THE E.E. MINI HEN ON NEST |
| Some general information on this little Mini Hen. This is an original mold with change of owner and mark, but with continued production. This is thought to be the smallest glass Mini Hen on nest available, and I have never seen a smaller one. The nest is about 1 3/8" in diameter and a quarter will just fit inside. It is about 1 1/2" high with the hen on the nest. The mold for it was made by Robert Wetzel and he had his name on the bottom, and pressed them himself for a few years until deciding to quit pressing glass. I purchased the mold from Robert in 1986. He removed his name and placed the E. E. Mark on it for me and I have been having them made periodically since then. Between 400 to 500 were made at each pressing and some were made more than one time as indicated. The people that pressed my chicks for me for years (Summit Art Glass) has closed. I have picked up my molds (Also have some open salt molds) and brought them home. So they probably will not be made again, unless I can find a glass house that can make them for me at a reasonable price, which is unlikely due to the high cost of Gas and Labor, since it takes as much labor to make this Mini as a larger one, just less glass, and as you all know many glass companies have closed in the last few years, . |
